Trees Atlanta - Tree Care Classes
Pruning Workshops - 2018
We offer three levels of instruction to help you move from beginner to confident pruner!
Workshops are lead by ISA certified arborists. You can put your new skills to use in your own yard or at one of our many upcoming volunteer pruning projects.*
No prior experience is necessary to start!

Pruning 101:
April 28: Fourth Ward
May 19: Dixie Hills
May 26: Virginia Highland (Class is full)
July 14: Kirkwood/East Lake (Class is full)
Learn the art and science behind pruning young trees. Correct pruning methods ensure trees grow up strong and in good form! *Completion of Pruning 101 is required to be a Trees Atlanta pruning volunteer.
Pruning 102:
May 5: Thomasville Heights (cancelled)
June 2: Poncey-Highland
June 16: West End/Westview
July 28: Adair Park
Get supervised, hands-on practice to sharpen the skills you learned in Pruning 101.
Pruning 103:
June 30: Decatur
August 4: Midtown
Now that you've put your pruning skills to use at several pruning projects, advance your know-how. Learn how to tackle larger trees and tough overstory species, like American elm. We'll do group skills review and then more hands-on practice with a partner. Although we encourage you to take Pruning 102, completion of Pruning 101 (or instructor approval) is required.
Put your new skills to use!
- All pruning classes are hands-on and conducted outdoors in a local neighborhood.
- You will receive a notification of workshop location after enrollment.
- Each progressive class requires completion of 101 (and 102, respectively).
- Pruning classes are education opportunities and do not count for community service hours.
** Locations may be subject to change.
