Spring is officially here, and it's impossible not to notice all of our feathered friends coming out to enjoy the weather. Join Trees Atlanta and avid bird watcher Jason Ward on a mission to identify some of Atlanta's common birds.

We'll explore the Northside section of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, home to hawks, herons, kingfishers, cardinals, bluebirds, blue jays, sparrows and so much more!

Learn how to identify and enjoy these beautiful creatures that call our City in the Forest home!

Jason Ward is a birder, writer for the National Audubon Society and an educator at Zoo Atlanta. Born and raised in The Bronx, NYC, his love for wildlife began at a young age when he fell in love with dinosaurs. Now, he gets to share his love for modern-day dinosaurs with the public during his monthly bird walks at Piedmont Park. Jason’s mission is to change the way the public views wildlife, and blaze a trail for children in underserved communities.

 Find him on Twitter @JasonWardNY.

Free with RSVP. Please register to attend.

Some tips for joining us on this walk:

  • The trail is not stroller friendly. Supervised children are welcome (however please no dogs).
  • Bring some water and please dress appropriately for forecasted weather.
  • Parking is limited, and it gets crowded on weekends, so we encourage carpooling and arriving early.
