This summer (2019) the City of Atlanta is scheduled for a Tree Protection Ordinance rewrite, update, and vote by the City Council. Now is the time for us to engage and rally for our priorities.

Atlanta is known as the "City in the Forest." Our trees are more than icons, they are fundamental for our city's well-being and long-term sustainability. How can we better protect our valuable tree canopy as Atlanta's pace of development accelerates?

The time is now to influence and support decision and law makers to improve our Tree Protection Ordinance. We need more trees planted, existing canopy saved, and forested land purchased for preservation. City managers are working on drafting ordinance updates and changes now. Let the City know what we believe are the priorities of local environmental organizations and concerned citizens like you. This event is to share ideas, as well as to suggest what citizens can do right now to have a voice in the process.

Expected City Council vote on Tree Protection Ordinance updates and changes is approximately late spring or summer. We will keep you informed of proceedings as they become known.

This presentation will be repeated in March, April, and May in various locations around the City of Atlanta. Please return to our calendar to see future event dates and locations should you miss the March 12th event.
