Trees Atlanta - TreeHouse
112 Krog St. Suite 7, Atlanta, GA 30307
Plants are essential in our urban landscapes: they help reduce water run-off, absorb air pollution, and decrease urban heat-island effects. Native plants do more: they also reconnect our gardens and parks to nature, supporting birds, pollinators, beneficial insects, and native ecosystems.
Learn more about how native plants and plant communities bring nature back to the city, and which plants are best.
Dr. Leslie Edwards of the Georgia Native Plant Society is the lead author of The Natural Communities of Georgia, and former Director of Education of GNPS. Dr. Edwards received her PhD at the University of Georgia, and recently retired from the faculty of the Georgia State University Geosciences Department, where she taught urban ecology and natural ecosystems. She has spoken and taught extensively about native plants and ecosystems, and has served on the boards of many conservation organizations.
